DJ Taiga

I got back on the horse and banged this out last week.  I figured why make mixes if you’re not going to give it to the people.  So here it is, my first mix in over 2 years.  Just a little taste of what’s to come.

Kanye Feat Lil Wayne Busta – Can’t Tell Me Nothin (Remix) + more

August 30, 2007

Kanye

This is a mixtape rip of it. My favorite line has to Weezy going:

“Let’em hate though
I’m on my way to the bank.. L M A O.”

Yeah I’m a nerd.

Slackers R Us

August 24, 2007

…or in this case just me.  Shortly a year after I promised the world to all 3 of my readers, I come back with more promises.  Actually no.  No more promises.  I will update this when I deem it appropriate.  It’s not like I have people to please.  (please come back… all 3 of you.  I promise to update regularly.  I promise.  really.)

And to show some “good” faith, here’s the new babyface song.

When did he turn into Garth Brooks?

And more from a new R&B songwriter (Umbrella) turned artist…

Trials and Tribulations…

July 26, 2006

Nicole SchrerzingerI’d like to apologize for the server downtime that has caused the music files to be unreachable for the better part of 2 weeks.  That’s why I haven’t posted anything new.  The situation is now under control and I am back.

We’re at the homestretch of summer and the industry is desperate for late summer hits.  Ludacris and Pharrell failed terribly with “MoneyMaker.”  Mark my words, that track will not catch on.  It’s just not hot.  HOWEVER, here are a couple of certified bangers… followed by a bunch of other tracks that I’m feelin.

VALEDICTORIANS:

P Diddy & Nicole Scherzinger – Come To Me  (Diddy is a smart smart man.  First Cassie, now Nicole… who holds the majority of vocal talent of the Pussycat Dolls.  This track sounds eerily like Me & U.  Take the winning formula and flip it.  Another banger.  I know this is going on my rotation at the clubs.)

Joe Budden – Stuntin  (I’m always pulling for Joe.  He can tell a story on a track like no other, but has trouble making club bangers without some help.  Jay Z blesses the track (as well as puts some more money in his pocket) with his voice sampled on the chorus.  The beat sounds like it was produced by R Kelly… with the same whistle song used on the Jamie Foxx & Game track on Foxx’s album.  Cross your fingers for Joe.  I hope this blows up… for his sake.)

Cassie – Me & U (Ryan Leslie Remix)  (This is the last remix… I promise.  The genius behind the original Me & U beat cooks up another heater and also flows a smooth 16.  You can’t beat the original… but who can?  Definitely a worthy alternative.)

HONOR ROLL:

Penelope Jones & Mya – No Matter What They Say  (Mya’s back… and she sounds good.  The track samples Lovin You and is a huge winner in my book.  If you like the Chingy & Tyrese track, you’ll probably like this one too.)

Donell Jones & Clipse – Im Gonna Be  (So so smooooooth.  I don’t even want to write about it.  Just wanna sit back and enjoy it.)

Field Mob – Blacker The Berry  (The blacker the berry… the sweeter the juice.  The fact that this samples 2Pac is good enough for me.  Even if Field Mob completely sucked on this track, hearing Pac’s voice redeems it.  Yes, Pac is THAT good.)

Hikaru Utada – Dareka No Negai Ga Kanau Koro  (From her new album Ultra Blue.  I’m a sucker for great vocal talent backed by piano.  Yes I have 2 testicles.  Thanks for asking.)

Kierra “Kiki” Sheard – It Is What It Is  (Another R&B newcomer.  Got potential.)

Nelly Furtado – In God’s Hands  (If you’re looking for another Promicious Girl, move on.  Furtado’s versatile… and she shows it here.)

Shareefa & Ludacris – Need A Boss  (Down south monster.)

Stacie Orrico – I’m Not Missing You  (I don’t write too much for non hip hop songs.  I don’t know why I like them, I just do.  And usually… I’m right.)

Fire.

July 7, 2006

CassieThese songs are HOT.  HOT HOT HOT.  Don’t take my word for them.  Listen and see for yourself.  Trust me… nobody is paying me nor putting a gun to my head telling me to say this stuff.  Seriously.  I donate my own time, energy, and bandwidth to bring you songs that I believe in.

Cassie & Diddy & Yung Joc – Me And U (Remix)  (As if the original wasn’t hot enough, this remix with diddy and joc dropping verses is insanely hot.  Iller than illinois… it’s Bad Boy.  The empire is back.  Plus Cassie is so hot.)

Eve & T.I. - Cash Flow  (E V E is back with a vengenance.  The pairing with the king of the south over Swizz Beats track is a perfect way for her to come back and reclaim the female rapper crown.  The swagger is incredible.)

Rhymefest & Kanye West – More  (Kanye produces the track and is only on the chorus, but Rhymefest comes through and spits the truth.)

Neyo & Tru-Life – Sexy Love (Remix)  (One of the best R&B remixes out this year hands down.  I dare you to refute me.)

Bobby Valentino – Wreck  (3 words.  Baby making music.  Enough said.)

the summer rush continues…

June 12, 2006

OutkastThe music industry goes through cycles just like the different seasons.  Summers are usually a rush of the feel good/light hearted club joints trying to recreate the magic of big anthems that often help sell albums.  Of course that’s not always the case… just look at “Lean Back.”  One of the hottest songs a few years ago, it failed to translate into sales for the Terror Squad album as it only moved about 500k units. Speaking of the rush… there’s been so many songs in all genres being put out/leaked/whatever that I have a giant stash of goodies to put up for everybody.  It’s going to be a busy summer… especially in the South.  Check it out…

Kandi & 8Ball & MJG – I Need  (Girls…. always needing shit…)

Mario Vasquez & Baby Bash – Gallery (Happy Perez Mix)  (This former American Idol dropout has a hit… and this is a good remix of the song.  Much better than the reggaeton remix… which makes me want to rip my own ears off.)

Rick Ross & Jay Z & Young Jeezy – Hustlin (Remix)  (Is there a remix that doesn’t have BOTH Jay Z AND Jeezy together nowadays?  Not my favorite track but it’s so hot right now.)

Shawnna & Ludacris & Lil Wayne & Pharrell – Gettin Some (Remix)  (This is the funniest yet most disturbing song this summer.  The remix is even better.)

Shakira & Wyclef – Hips Don’t Lie (Remix)  (If you haven’t heard this song in some form, you are either A) deaf  B) dead  or C) both)

Outkast – The Mighty O  (Funky and dope.  Outkast continues to surprise me with their crazy style that appeals to both the elitists and the mainstream.)

Nelly Furtado – Maneater  (Dedicated to all the maneating bitches out there… you know who you are.)

Jagged Edge – Ass Hypnotic  (I cannot get enough of JE.)

Chingy & Tyrese – Pullin Me Back  (This has got crazy mainstream/crossover appeal.  JD is a midget… but a genius.  It’s good to see Chingy back to where he belongs… following the formula from what gave him success in the past.)

getting that summer love…

June 8, 2006

Heather HeadleyPeople say that spring is the season for the start of romances.  So summer's really when all of that blasts off huh?  Indeed.  Whether it's that summer fling or that once in a lifetime soulmate kind of love…. a soundtrack is neccessary.  And even if you're single and happy or heartbroken from that bitch who gave you herpes… well… the music is still relevant.  Here are some R&B and love joints for that ass:

Jagged Edge – Baby Feel Me  (Classic JE style… classy… yet a little raunchy.  Yes.)

Heather Headley – Me Time  (From her original role on Broadway in Aida to her sophomore R&B effort, she's one of my favorites.)

T Pain & Lil Wayne – Studio Luv  (From the strip club to the studio… the luvin apparently never stops…)

Paula Deanda & Baby Bash – Doing Too Much  (Prepare for the new crop of young talent.  First Cassie, now 16 year old Paula from Texas.  This song is blowing up everywhere with good reason.)

Jagged Edge – Watch You  (Who doesn't love JE!?)

Jagged Edge – So High  (MORE MORE MORE)

The Isley Brothers & R Kelly – Blast Off  (You can say what you want about R Kelly, but he's a musical genius.)

Joe & Papoose – Where You At  (Where my ladies at? =)

The Best… errr West Coast.

May 27, 2006

West CoastI got love for the west coast.  Why?  Well… I'm originally from LA and one of these days I'll end up back there.  And yes I know west coast rap has been off the map for the most part since the days of NWA, Dre, Cube, the glory days of Death Row and gangster rap.  It's never too late for a revival.  You got Snoop and Game leading the charge and even the whole ridiculous hyphy movement going on in the bay area.  You know they were real bored and high when that started.  It probably went something like this…

"It's Friday… we ain't got no job… we ain't got shit to DO!  Oh *I* know.  We'll drive our cars real slow and hang out the windows/doors/roof/trunk/hood for good measure.  Oh oh… and THEN we'll do donuts and other crazy car tricks in the middle of intersections and people will be forced to gather around and watch us.  Oh yeah… and don't forget the alcohol, weed, E, cough syrup, and energy drink.  We might be thirsty after all that."

Now that I've alienated the whole Bay Area… (I hate the Giants anyways.  Fuck you.  LA all day.)  check out some music from up and down the w/best coast.

Daz & Rick Ross – On Some Real Shit  (On some real shit… I gotta be the best… I gotta stay fresh… I represent the WEST.  Plus the beat is ridiculous.  Enough said.)

Tha Dogg Pound – Sittin on 23z  (Produced by Swizz Beats.  The Dogg Pound is back baby.)

E40 – Yay Area  (Produced by Rick Rock.  Apparently he pushes pies like Marie Callender.)

E40 & T-Pain & Kandi – U and Dat  (A cross between Usher – Yeah and Cassie – Me and U.  Check it.)

Roscoe – Summertime Again  (Perfect summer chill song for Cali folks.  Smoooooooth.  Wessssside.)

Roscoe – Fuck Buddy  (Remember Notorious BIG & R Kelly – Fucking You Tonight?  Yeah it's kinda like THAT.  Romantic I know.  Ladies are going to love this one.  I can tell already…)

Mr. Capone-E - Untitled  (Gotta show love for the latinos.  This is gangsta.  Reminds me a bit of Pac.)

Mr. Capone-E & Twista – Don't Get It Twisted  (The midwest/west coast connection.  Think slow jam.)

Jagged Edge & JD - Stunnas  (I know what you're thinking.  "Why Jagged Edge and JD?  They're from the ATL you dumbfuck."  I guess this is west coast related as they're talking about stunna shades.  Where are YOUR stunna shades?)

Smitty & Jae Millz – Ghetto Boy  (This samples from Lil Ghetto Boy off the classic Chronic album.  Jae Millz shines on this track.)

kanye kanye kanye…

May 25, 2006

Kanye WestKanye is EVERYWHERE.  Well, he's BEEN everywhere.  Every time I think he's on the verge of overexposure and stretching himself too thin on all his projects, he comes back with some crazy rhymes/beats that makes me bob my head, laugh at his cleverness, and secretly hate him for being so damn creative.  Let's make it clear though… I don't co-sign everything that he does.  The "Impossible" track for the MI-3 movie… so lackluster I won't even bother posting it here.

Here are a few new/recent Kanye related tracks worth listening to:

Pharrell & Kanye – Number One  (First single… well second if you count "Can I Have It Like That"… well third if you count "Angel"… off his new album 'In My Mind' slating to drop the end of July.)

Neyo & Kanye & Ghostface – Back Like That (Remix)  (Sick remix… makes me want to "order the Kobe beef like Shaquille O'Neal".. for real)

Smitty & Kanye, John Legend, Scarface – Ghetto  (Smitty is one of my favorite up and coming rappers… Mr. Diamonds On My Neck.  Kanye and Scarface are classic… and John Legend is at his best… in the background.  Heh.  Produced by Kanye.)

Nick Cannon & Slim of 112 – My Wife  (Produced by Kanye.  112 being one of my favorite groups of ALL TIME, I had to post this up.  This is likely to be Nick's second single following "Dime Piece.")

Fonzworth Bentley – Laid Back  (Produced by Kanye.  Interesting… and by interesting I mean trash.  Lupe Fiasco could've used this beat.  Thanks Mr. P Diddy Butler for singlehandedly ruining music.)

Curious as to where Kanye got his samples for his records?  Pick up the following CD and find out.
